Zestos, from Vinos Sin-Ley is an unoaked blend of 50% Tempranillo and 50% Garnacha, resulting in a easy to sip, fruit forward table wine, with a good balance. To me, Chianti is such a widely produced wine that it typically becomes boring and dull, and as a general rule I never buy it for personal consumption. Fortunately, for every rule, there are exceptions. This Chianti Colli Senesi from Palazzo Bandino captures the best of approachable fruit, plenty of acidity for pairing with food, soft, mellow tannins and an earthy structure that ties it all together. A good reminder that Chianti, when produced with expertise and passion, is one of the world’s most recognizable wines for a reason.
